With reference to your letter of the 19th ultimo, I am directed by the Earl of Kimberley to state, for the information of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, that the precedence referred to in your letter, as being assigned to the Commodore on the Jamaica Station, appears to his Lordship to be in contravention of the Colonial Regulations and the table of precedence of the Colonial Governors in the hot day as hitherto interpreted.
